A Lecture, a Symposium, and a Forum
In conjunction with Teatro del Pueblo's Political Theatre Festival, The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies at the University of Minnesota is sponsoring:

This community outreach, interdepartmental, intercollegiate, international symposium and theater festival offers a series of lectures around theater, performance, literature and social discourse. The group of scholars attending will also incorporate into their lectures and discussions topics on Human Rights, immigration, discrimination, violence, poverty, displacement, political theater, and women. Lectures and discussions will be conducted in Spanish and in English.

Target Night
Tonight we had a special Politcal Theatre Festival Performance for Target Corporation's Hispanic Business Council and La Escualita, an after school program for Latino Youth. Preceding the performances of two plays by Dominic Orlando, a delicious repast was prepared for theatre goers by Manny's Tortas.
Matinee
The actors were up bright and early this morning for our Political Theatre Festival Matinee. Students from Multicultural Indigenous Academy, Hastings High School, and Project Success watched "Variations on Mixed Generations" by Eric Silva Brenneman and "American Latino" by Dominic Orlando. These bright young people had some great observations and comments during the discussion afterwards.

Love Rox
Rita Medina, Yolanda Cotteral, and Indira Addington performed an exerpt from "American Latino" at LOVE ROX, a benefit cabaret for Intermedia Arts. The full version of the play, by Dominic Orlando and directed by Christina Akers, opens on February 14 at the Political Theatre Festival .
